Direct Seeding by Conviction – How K-Hart and NEXAT Combine Sustainability and Efficiency

Could you briefly introduce yourself and K-Hart?

My name is Arvinder Jabal and I am the CEO of K-Hart Industries.
At K-Hart, our mission is to empower farmers with sustainable, innovative and robust agricultural solutions. Our rich company history is characterized by a deep understanding of the challenges farmers face. Our focus is on developing machines and systems that improve efficiency, productivity and sustainability on farms.

What are your core competencies and your vision for agriculture?

Our core competencies lie in the development and manufacture of state-of-the-art agricultural machinery, particularly in technology for no-till farming. Our vision is to lead agriculture into a sustainable and innovative future. We want to equip farmers with reliable tools that maximize productivity while minimizing environmental impact to make agriculture resilient and sustainable for generations to come.

How and why did K-Hart decide to specialize in direct seeding? What advantages do you see for farmers worldwide?

K-Hart chose to specialize in direct seeding because it aligns with our commitment to sustainable agriculture. Direct seeding minimizes soil disturbance, reduces erosion, improves water retention, and enhances soil health over time. It also lowers operational costs, offering farmers a system that is both economically and environmentally beneficial. These advantages are universal, helping farmers worldwide address the growing need for sustainable farming practices while maintaining productivity and profitability.

Can you tell us more about the Undercut system and the license rights?

The Gent Undercut system is a key innovation that sets K-Hart apart. Originally designed by Tony Gent, the patent holder, the system was developed specifically for true no-till farming. Because K-Hart owns the license rights, we ensure that its benefits accrue to farmers while maintaining its integrity.t.

Tony Gent’s undercut system

Tony Gent was faced with the challenges of degraded soils and rising costs – and found the solution in no-till farming. His journey from the first experiments to consistent implementation shows how innovative cultivation techniques can improve soil fertility and profitability in the long term.

This design is ideal for no-till conditions and ensures precise seed placement with minimal soil disturbance and virtually no hairpin formation. These features improve germination rates, increase yields and improve soil health by maintaining soil structure. The license rights for this system ensure that we maintain control over its quality and implementation and allow us to work with trusted partners to expand its reach while protecting its integrity.

How did you first hear about NEXAT and what was it about our system that particularly appealed to you?

We found out about your system through our agricultural network and NEXAT’s online presence. We were particularly impressed by NEXAT’s innovative approach to rethinking conventional farming methods by combining efficiency, sustainability and innovation in a single system. This vision fits perfectly with K-Hart’s mission to support farmers with machines that increase productivity while promoting the long-term sustainability of agriculture.

Was there a particular moment that set the collaboration between K-Hart and NEXAT in motion?

The defining moment for us was our first no-till test in Ukraine in September 2024. We tested a K-Hart system on a NEXAT platform in a corn field that had been harvested less than 24 hours earlier – with soil completely covered by plant residue. The seamless performance of both systems in these challenging conditions was a turning point. It became clear to us that this collaboration could provide invaluable added value to farmers.

What common goals are K-Hart and NEXAT pursuing for the future of agriculture, particularly in the area of no-till farming?

K-Hart and NEXAT share the vision of making agriculture more efficient, sustainable and user-friendly. In the field of no-till farming, our common goal is to promote its spread worldwide by offering systems that are reliable, cost-efficient and environmentally friendly. Through the use of state-of-the-art technologies and our focus on soil health, we aim to provide farmers with tools that promote long-term productivity and sustainability.

What are your expectations for this partnership in the years to come? Where do you see the most potential for innovation and growth?

We see this partnership driving significant innovation by combining K-Hart’s direct seeding expertise with NEXAT’s modular systems. The biggest opportunities lie in using precision agriculture, automation, and data-driven solutions to create more efficient and sustainable farming practices. Together, we aim to set new standards for efficiency and sustainability in farming.

Direct seeding is more than just a technique; it’s a philosophy. How do you plan to further develop this approach?

We plan to further develop direct seeding by continuing to invest in research and development, collaborating with partners like NEXAT, and educating farmers on its long-term benefits. Our focus is on refining systems to be more adaptable, user-friendly, and aligned with evolving agricultural practices. By prioritizing sustainability and efficiency, we aim to make direct seeding a cornerstone of modern farming worldwide.

Finally, is there anything else you would like to share with our audience – especially agronomists and farmers – about K-Hart, no-till and your vision with NEXAT?

K-Hart is committed to supporting farmers with sustainable, innovative and robust solutions for modern agriculture. No-till is not just a method, but a commitment to soil health, productivity and sustainability. Our partnership with NEXAT reflects our shared goal of supporting farmers with cutting-edge technology. Together, we provide agronomists and farmers with machines that enable long-term success.
